PARTICIPATING BOAT CLUBS

1)United Boat Club ( UBC) Kainakary

Kainakary village has always played significant roles in boat races. At one time they owned 4 boats by name Kainakary , Kuttikkadan, Kuttamangalam,and Poyyakkara.in 1955 the club by name United Boat Club Kainakary was formed. The young members of this club has gained several trophies. It has won hatric in Nehru Trophy in 1963,64 and 65 rowing boats Geargoss , St. George and Parthasarathy respectively. This boat club has won Nehru Trophy several times in 66,67,70 and 72. rowing boats like Pulinkunnu Chundan, Kalooparamban Chundan, and Karichal Chundan.Of the several boat clubs active in the Kuttanadan area UBC comes foremost.

2)Kodupunna Boat Club

The first Chundan Vallam was built at Kodupunna by Mr Devanarayanan Achari as per the desire of the King of Chempakaserry, that boat was built to be used as a battle ship.the people of the area built another boat which was used for races and got damaged in time. The people of the area hired boats from neighbouring islets and took part in all the races conducted in Kuttanad. And they later found a Boat Club by name Kodupunna Boat Club in 1973 and purchased a boat Geargoss from Jawahar Thayankary Club. This boat reached first in the Champakulam Boat Race. Kodupunna Boat Club was lucky enough to win the Nehru Trophy several times and reached first in several other races.

3)Nethaji Boat Club

young men belonging to Edathua village purchased a boat from Aranmula in 1946. and found a boat club for its operation. This boat club has boat many laurels in several boat races. In 1975 this boat was sold to Aranmula. But the club takes part in other boats in boat races held throughout the region.

4)Pulangadi Boat Club

In 1975 people from pulangadi a part of Champakulam found this club. They have won Nehru Trophy in 1976 rowing Anari Chundan. 1977 in Pulinkunnu Chundan. 78, Anari Chundan.in 1980 this team won the Nehru Trophy rowing the Karichal Chundan

5)Thekkekara Boat Club

The river Pampa flows westwerds dividing Monkompu into two , northern and southern parts , the people of south bank found this club on 1960. they have led the boats like Valiyadiwanji Chundan , Parthasarathy Chundan, Napoleon Chundan, Payippadan Chundan, Nadubhagam Chundan, Pulinkunnu Chundan, Kandankary Chundan etc.

6)Union Boat Club Koikkal Mukku

In 1965 young men of Koikkal Mukku , united to form this club. Formerly they were rowing 'Veppu' boats and had won several trophies , later their taking part in chundan boats like Cheruthana Chundan, Payippad Chundan, Valiyadiwanji Chundan, etc.

7)Kavitha Arts and Sports Club

Found in 1973 september they have took part in Nehru Trophy several times.

8)Edathua Boat Club

Found in 1981 and had won several trophies in 'Veppu' and Oadi boats.

9)Pallathuruthi Boat Club

Formed in 1954 has taken part in Nehru Trophy Several times.
